Canada Top Flight Academy is pleased to announce that Ottawa, Ontario's AVERY PLATANA will be part of the 2017-2018 women's team inaugural season.
Avery is a grade 10 honour roll student at Sacred Heart High School where she played 3 years on the school's basketball team.  She was co-captain of this year's team and was instrumental in their success in making it to the City Final.  This year, Avery was selected to play in the Ottawa High School All Star Classic and was also a member of the grade 7/8 National All Star Classic.

Avery has played 6 seasons of competitive basketball with the Goulbourn Hornets - a team who was ranked 1st in Division 2 this season and won 3 gold medals. Avery was a strong leader on the Hornets and brought grit and determination to each game.

Outside of basketball, Avery is a leader on the Kanata Knights Girl's Touch Football team where, this past season, she was the recipient of the Heart Award and last year received Defensive Player of the Year.

Avery's ability to see the court and her strong defensive play will be great assets to this year's team.

"Adding a player with Avery's size, smarts and commitment to being an aggressive defender is fantastic!  Welcome to our CTA family Avery!"

- Mario Gaetano, Head Coach Canada Topflight Academy Women's Basketball Team
