Canada Topflight Academy is pleased to announce that Ottawa, Ontario's AMANDA GAETANO will be part of the program for the 2017-2018 women's team's inaugural season!

Amanda Gaetano is currently a grade 10 student at St. Pius X HS.  She is a multi-sport athlete playing volleyball, touch football, curling, and of course, basketball, all on varsity teams. While participating on several school teams throughout the year, she has maintained her standing on the Honour Roll.  She was captain of the varsity basketball team in both her Grade 9 and 10 seasons.  This year she led her team with a 31 points per game average. She also set the St Pius girls' team record of 46 points in one game this season.

Amanda began playing basketball in grade one with the Nepean Amateur Basketball Association (NABA).  The Nepean Blue Devils merged with NABA two years later where she currently continues to play.  This year her team competes in the OBL-X league, in the U19 division.  Amanda continues to 'play up' as she is currently 15 years old. She has never played competitively in her own age division.  Amanda has been part of several successful teams at OBA Provincials.   Most recently, in 2016 - finished 4th in Div I, as part of the Blue Devils Major Midget team and in 2014 her team finished 1st in Bantam Division II.

As early as grade five, Amanda developed her skills as a member of the Ottawa team that represented the area in the Ontario Basketball Talent Identification and Development Program.  She participated in the National Capital All-Star Classic in both grade 7 and 8.  She was part of the Ottawa Elite Summer Development program two summers ago and was selected for the Ottawa Summer Basketball U16 Program last summer under the direction of uOttawa Head Coach Andy Sparks.

Amanda has spent countless hours on and off the court working on her goal of playing at the highest level possible after high school .  She is your prototypical basketball 'gym rat' who would rather be dribbling and shooting a ball given a choice.  Her love for the game is easily noted by anyone who talks to her about basketball.  Amanda is a leader on and off the court and is respected by all of her teammates for her work ethic and desire to continually improve her skill set.

"I am delighted to have Amanda commit to be part of our CTA team at Immaculata High School for our inaugural season! Amanda shows an attitude that I want everyone to have who will be part of our CTA team.  A willingness to improve, heart and desire to compete, and always striving to be the best she can be!  Her shooting ability will certainly stretch defense for us! Welcome to our CTA family Amanda!"
